This year the Zoo partnered up with Tianyu Arts & Culture I to create one of the most stunning light displays I have ever seen. Their expertise in light artistry is evident in every corner of the Zoo, as they have seamlessly combined technology and artistic vision to create a wonderful experience for visitors of all ages. When you have a moment, I urge you to check out their portfolio; it is truly stunning the work they have done to date is truly incredible.

Each section of the Boston Lights showcases carefully selected animals representing different ecosystems and habitats. It draws attention to them so visitors can understand how important it is to protect and preserve these diverse environments. The creators of the 2023 BOSTON Lights at Franklin Park Zoo understand the profound impact that zoos can have on visitors.

Their primary goal is to create an experience that educates, inspires, and fosters a deep appreciation for wildlife and conservation. Please keep this in mind when wandering thru each exhibit. As you stroll through the illuminated pathways of the zoo, take a moment to soak in the beauty and wonder of each display. There will be signs explaining each section and providing interesting facts about the animals and their habitats.

The moment you step inside, you are greeted with a magnificent display of color and light. The first display is a huge tree adorned with thousands of twinkling lights, casting a warm and inviting glow. It is decorated with mystical deer, whimsical flowers, and an intricately designed tree. It then opens to beautiful blooming flowers leading to a large display with white wolves in a stunning landscape of white lights. Make sure to follow the path the Zoo has crafted for you, as it will lead you through a mesmerizing journey filled with captivating displays. After you pass the main display, there are some small installations for you to visit and some concession stands for snacks and gifts.

As you continue down the path, your next destination is a colorful tunnel where it opens up to a pyramid tunnel that starts the Eygpt-themed section of the exhibit. This is one of my favorite parts of the 2023 BOSTON Lights at Franklin Park Zoo experience. The amount of detail put into each display is remarkable. Some features move, lights flicker different colors, and are interactive.

You can’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder as you walk through the illuminated pathway. From sphinxes to scorpions, I encourage you to take your time to take in all the details. The display ends with an impressive columned walkway with Egyptian symbols above each column, creating a grand and majestic ambiance.

But the journey doesn’t end there.

The following section begins with a tunnel of flashing lights and vibrant colors that opens up to the Underwater themed park. You are transported to an enchanting realm filled with shimmering lights and marine creatures as you enter the underwater world. The illuminated pathways guide you past displays showcasing spectacular sea life. From turtles to a variety of fishes, no detail has been spared in creating this underwater experience.

There is a break between the end of this section and flying cranes leading to a stunning display of a Peacock with its feathers out. This exhibit moves and changes color to create a dazzling spectacle that truly captures the beauty of this magnificent bird. The following section starts with a vast blue dragon whose body spirals into a large tunnel you can walk thru.

Be sure to take plenty of photos with the dragon; it is one of the few spaces where it is well light with more light, even if it’s blues. Once you pass thru the dragon on the right, there is a small exhibit where you can find your zodiac animal. The creators of the 2023 BOSTON Lights at Franklin Park Zoo have genuinely outdone themselves in crafting an unforgettable and captivating experience for visitors.

This section is Chinese themed, adorned with classic Chinese-styled homes and motifs that transport you to the cultural richness of China. There are butterfly-decorated trees and pairs of ducks swimming in a pond, creating a serene and picturesque scene. Walking through the exhibit, you will walk thru a bamboo tunnel decorated with Pandas. Make sure you find them. They could be hiding from you behind the bamboo.

The final section of the 2023 BOSTON Lights at Franklin Park Zoo takes you into a mystical and enchanting world. You get to see the other side of the main exhibit from the beginning. This section has more interactive elements like touch screens, stomp lights, buttons that activate exhibits, and even a blue dragon at the end.
