24-hour Trip: To Chelsea, NYC Art Tech House, Food, and Tons of Sweets
Are you a fan of immersive art experiences that push the boundaries of technology and creativity? If so, you’ll want to check out the incredible shows at Art Tech House. They are located in major cities worldwide, but today I want to take you on a journey through my unforgettable experience at the Magentaverse show in Chelsea, NYC.
So, I decided to do a 24-hour trip with my siblings to explore Chelsea and immerse ourselves in the mind-bending world of Magentaverse. Before the show, we had to grab a drink at the Chelsea Starbucks Reserve to catch up and snack. We took some time to grab some fresh oysters at Chelsea Market, a vibrant food hall that’s a must-visit for any food lover.
I went a (LONG) while ago, and let me tell you, it was a mind-blowing experience. As soon as I step inside the Art Tech House, you are greeted by an outstanding staff member who will check you in. Purchase tickets online beforehand, as they often sell out quickly or cannot be purchased in person. A few guests before us did not have tickets, and their system was down; unfortunately, they had to be turned away at the door. Arrive 5 minutes before your time slot to ensure a smooth entry, and so the staff can brief you on what to expect during the show.
Once you step into the show space, you are immediately transported to another dimension. There is so much to take in from the moment you enter. Be careful where you step, as the immersive art installations often extend from the floor to the walls and even the ceiling. The vibrant colors and mesmerizing lights create a surreal atmosphere that is genuinely awe-inspiring. I have motion sickness, so I hesitated to attend an immersive art show. We attended the Magentaverse show, so everything was in constant motion and flux and color. So, there was a moment when I felt myself getting a little queasy; thankfully, the space was well-ventilated and provided plenty of seating areas for a quick break if needed.
One of the highlights of the Magentaverse show was the interactive installations. They allowed visitors to actively engage with the artwork, creating a unique and personalized experience. There were interactive projections where you could use your body movements to manipulate the visuals, transforming them in real-time. Record yourself interacting with the installations or take plenty of photos to capture the magical moments. There are also audio elements that complement the visual experience, adding another layer of immersion. Pillars are available to lean against for support should you experience any dizziness or need to steady yourself. After you are ready to move forward, the gift shop at the Art Tech House is worth a visit. They have a variety of merchandise inspired by the show, including prints, t-shirts, and other unique items. Overall, I can not wait for my next Art Tech House show, as the Magentaverse experience was truly unforgettable.
After the Art Tech House, we headed to the Museum of Illusions nearby to extend our immersive art experience. It is a small museum with fun optical illusions and interactive exhibits perfect for photo ops. The friendly staff are happy to help capture the perfect illusion photo. Honestly, we spent way more time than we anticipated at the Museum of Illusions because it was just so fascinating and entertaining. We were having too much fun, even more fun than the children (LOL). Make sure to follow the numbers in order and be mindful of other guests, as everyone is doing the same thing. My favorite room was upstairs in the illusion where it is like you are hanging; the three of us had a blast doing it. The only complaint, if anything, was the gift shop was a bit lacking.
As we made our way through all the exhibits, we had plenty of time to explore our must-eats for the day trip. We did not eat it all at once; we had these snacks and meals throughout the day.
Suprême at Lafayette Bakery
Cronuts from the Dominique Ansel Bakery
a Square at Prince Street Pizza (Sorry no photo of square, we were too hungry lol)
Dinner at Chi Restaurant & Bar 棋酒吧餐厅
I hope the next time you plan a trip to New York City, some of these places and restaurants make it on your list and become your favorite.
Happy Travelings!
