As 2024 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on a whirlwind year of creativity, growth, and unforgettable moments. This year has been nothing short of transformative for me as a photographer and the heart behind Ann Lang Mun Co. Each project, achievement, and experience has reaffirmed my passion for capturing the beauty of the world around me. Here’s a glimpse into the highlights that made this year so special.
An Honor to Remember: Award Nominee
One of the most humbling moments of 2024 was receiving a nominee award for my work. Recognition like this isn’t something I actively seek, but when it happens, it’s a poignant reminder of the power of photography to connect and resonate with others. This milestone will remain a cherished highlight of my career, inspiring me to continue pushing boundaries in my craft.
DOCU Magazine Feature: Sharing My Story
In another unexpected yet thrilling turn, I had the privilege of being featured in DOCU Magazine. This publication provided a platform to share my journey as a fine art photographer, my artistic philosophy, and the stories behind some of my most meaningful pieces. Seeing my words and images published reaffirmed the importance of storytelling in photography and strengthened my resolve to keep creating art that speaks to the soul.
Back to Printing: Tangible Connections
This year marked my return to printing my work—a process I’ve missed deeply. There’s something undeniably special about seeing a digital image transformed into a tangible piece of art. Holding a print in your hands brings an added layer of intimacy and connection to the work. It’s been exhilarating to rediscover this medium and to offer collectors a way to bring my vision into their spaces.
Opening a Gallery in Rockport, MA
Rockport has always held a special place in my heart, so opening a gallery here was a dream realized. The gallery has become more than a space to showcase my work; it’s a hub for inspiration, a place where conversations about art and photography flow freely. Watching visitors connect with my pieces has been one of the most rewarding experiences of the year.
Northern Lights and the Atlas Comet
One of the most magical experiences of this year was photographing the Northern Lights right here in Rockport, MA. Witnessing the vibrant auroras dance across the sky was surreal, a moment of pure awe that felt almost otherworldly. To add to the celestial wonder, I also captured the elusive Atlas Comet—a rare and fleeting spectacle that reminded me of the infinite beauty of our universe. These moments reaffirmed my growing passion for astrophotography and the joy of chasing the night’s light.
Yosemite: A Bucket List Adventure
Nature has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and this year I finally checked Yosemite off my bucket list. The grandeur of the park—its towering granite cliffs, ancient sequoias, and ethereal light—took my breath away. Capturing its essence through my lens was both a challenge and a privilege. Yosemite reminded me of why I fell in love with photography in the first place: to honor the beauty of the world around us.
Looking Ahead
As I look toward 2025, I’m excited for what’s to come. From continuing to grow the gallery in Rockport to traveling more and growing this blog further, the future is bright and full of possibilities. I’m also thrilled to dive deeper into my exploration of astrophotography, a discipline that has already taught me so much about patience and wonder. Additionally, I am introducing elopements to my photography services—a beautiful way to capture the intimacy and joy of couples celebrating their love in unique, meaningful settings.
