Fried Mantou Buns with Sweet Condensed Milk

Transport your taste buds to a realm of delight with this simple yet indulgent recipe for Fried Mantou Buns served with sweet condensed milk.

  • Total Time: 45mins
  • Yield: 12

Ingredients

For the Fried Mantou Buns:

  • 8 mantou buns (store-bought or homemade) I opted for store-brought
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Condensed Milk Drizzle:

  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mantou Buns: If using store-bought Mantou buns, follow the package instructions for thawing or warming. If making homemade mantou buns, ensure they are fully cooked and cooled before proceeding.
  2. Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there is enough oil to submerge the Mantou buns.
  3. Fry the Mantou Buns: Gently place the Mantou buns into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry each side for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried mantou buns to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  4. Condensed Milk Drizzle: Warm the sweetened condensed milk slightly in a microwave-safe bowl or using a small saucepan. This will make it easier to drizzle. Place the warm condensed milk in a squeeze bottle or use a spoon to drizzle it over the fried mantou buns generously.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Arrange the fried mantou buns on a serving platter and serve immediately while they are still warm. Optionally, you can sprinkle a little powdered sugar or sesame seeds on top for added visual appeal.
  6. Experience the Delight: Encourage everyone to tear into the crispy exterior of the Mantou buns and dip them into the sweet condensed milk. The combination of textures and flavors is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Notes

  • Make sure to have a roll of paper towels handy to absorb excess oil from the fried mantou buns.
  • If you have a drying rack for cookies or a wire rack, you can place the fried mantou buns on it instead of paper towels to further drain excess oil and help them stay crispy for a longer time.
  • You can get creative and top it with other toppings such as toasted sesame seeds or crushed peanuts for added crunch and flavor on top of the condense milk drizzle.
