Perfect Pick Food for Small Gatherings – Cheese Platter Savory and Sweet for all to Enjoy
Cheese Platter Savory and Sweet for all to Enjoy – I’m a firm believer in that food and art go hand in hand together. When I use to have small gallery openings (pre-pandemic) and small art gatherings I would first get more excited about what I was placed at the snack table than what was going on the walls (LOL). It would drive my friends and family crazy because I took it too seriously. Before even considering showing your work, you worked very hard at creating a body of work that conveyed your vision. The time and dedication it took to reach this point is already something that has become a part of you.
So when you have a space where you are exposing a part of yourself to the world, make it an experience for them as it was for you. This is where food comes in. You never know who is going to walk through the door nor will you know if anyone purchases anything. I look at them as a chance to engage in conversion with another person who is looking at my artwork from their perspective.
My go-to snack, My must-have snack is a well-rounded cheese platter filled with:
- Your favorite cheeses, I prefer a sharp cheddar and some cubes although a spreadable is perfect too
- At least 2 different types of Crackers, I like to use one water type and another multigrain
- Some Cucumber slices
- Pepperoni Slices
- Mixed nuts
- Tangerine Pieces
- Cornichons
- Capers
- Your choice of Jam
I love placing a mix of flavors on one platter because you can satisfy a wide range of guests at your gatherings. I like to think of the cheese platter as a blank canvas and you can fill it with anything you want inside, so do not be scared to be creative with it.
I hope you have fun planning your future gatherings!
