This year I promised that I would start taking care of myself; it has been a challenging task to follow. Instead, I am optioning for small moments where I take time for myself.
Tea is a perfect way to start your day and feel refreshed and invigorated. If you want more time to relax, a tea break is ideal. Take a few minutes out of your day to enjoy a warm cup of tea and sit quietly for a few moments. If you need help getting started, here are some suggestions to get you going.
It must sound like a broken record to constantly remind you repeatedly that self-care is important in leading a happy and productive life. But in this day and age, we often forget and place ourselves last. Even now, I have to remind myself to take even 10 mins a day to do something for me, or I will end up crashing due to too much work and not having enough time to recharge. If this is happening to you right now, it’s important to remember to take care of yourself and your mental health by doing things you enjoy and taking a break from the stress of your work.
I used to swallow up my anger and pile it on until I had an outburst, but I have found that practicing self-care through activities like yoga and drinking loose-leaf teas has helped me manage my emotions more healthily. Self-care is not just a buzzword but a necessary practice for maintaining our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Tea time worked for me, but it may not work for you. Tea time can also be going out for coffee, calling a friend, or even just listening to music on your headphones while taking a leisurely walk. Whatever activity you choose, the important thing is to prioritize yourself and make time for self-care.
Although a small break out of the day is not a lot, it is yours and an opportunity to prioritize yourself.
When you are stressed, having a cup of hot tea and just relaxing for a few minutes can help calm you down and clear your mind so that you can think more clearly and be more efficient at solving problems. Having a few cups of tea daily can boost your immune system and make you healthier overall by strengthening your natural defenses against diseases. During my college years, I nearly destroyed my body by drinking mainly black coffee and high sugared drinks. It was not until my twenties that I realized how much damage I was doing to my body and how it affected my overall well-being. I used to get terrible headaches and always felt on edge. In addition, I also have fatigue and never enough energy to accomplish anything.
Until I decided one day I was sick of feeling like this and made a conscious effort to slowly change my daily routine by changing what I drink. When I first started drinking tea, I felt more hydrated and less groggy than before. I realized that Dehydration can make you sluggish, cause headaches, and contribute to tiredness and fatigue. It may also increase your risk of developing serious health conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes. To stay healthy and prevent Dehydration, I started drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water each day, along with the occasional cup of tea throughout the day.
Here are some tips for drinking tea:
- Use loose-leaf tea instead of bagged tea. Loose-leaf tea allows you to appreciate the flavor of the tea leaves truly. Bagged tea can contain lower-quality tea and may not have the same health benefits as loose-leaf tea.
- Use small blocks of sugar to help control the amount you are drinking. I do not normally put sugar in my tea, but sometimes you need a little sugar kick to energize you on a busy day!
- Try not to do large batches of tea at once.
- Brew enough for a few cups at a time to ensure freshness and optimal flavor.
- Try out a variety of teas, as one flavor of tea may have different health benefits and flavors than another.
- Somethings some tea types will affect you differently than others. For example, green tea is known for its caffeine and can keep you up at night, but can have no effect on another person.
I hope this blog post inspires you to take some time for yourself each day and incorporate the health benefits of tea into your routine. Whether it’s teatime for you or reading a book for 15 minutes, I hope you find a space for yourself during your day to relax and prioritize your well-being.
Happy SelfCare!
