Chinese Five-Spice Blend – Quick and Easy Recipe for Added Umami

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon Szechuan pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seed
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon star anise
  • 1 tablespoon cloves
  • Add Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Grind each spice separately using a spice grinder, mortar, and pestle until they reach a fine powder consistency.
  • Combine the ground Szechuan pepper, fennel seed, cinnamon, star anise, and cloves in a small bowl.
  • Mix well until all the spices are evenly distributed.
  • Transfer the mixture to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place.
